Summary: | At post-mortem, DLB is characterised by the presence of [Lewy] bodies in the cerebral cortex and substantia nigra. Lewy bodies are also found in post-mortem brains of people with Parkinson's disease, Pick's disease and Huntington's chorea. Sufferers are extremely sensitive to extrapyramidal side effects of antipsychotics, which - including some of the atypicals - are associated with a two to threefold increase in mortality in DLB patients. |
