[...] Alistair Morgan (1993) in his book Improving Your Students' Learning - Reflections on the Experience of Study argues that the identification of deep and surface approaches originated from research which analysed the meaning gained from reading text, the "strategic" approach originated from research with reference to everyday situations; therefore it more appropriately describes an approach to studying rather than approach to learning.
