When we went to St Mary's, Woolpit, I found he had measured the whole place with his surveyor's chain before I had finished gawping at the angels in the roof. "Well," he said with a wry smile, "I have told them how to modify the structures, but they are usually medieval, so there's nothing one is allowed to alter." |
