Summary: | Where there was joy at the end of last Saturday's 26-26 thriller with Cornish Pirates, Ian Smith's men responded with dejection to yesterday's stalemate against winless Bristol. Only until the fifth minute though when Bristol had a penalty overturned for ill-discipline. Mose kicked to touch, reclaimed the lineout and David Lyons barrelled into the teeth of the visitors' defence. Bristol prop Mark Irish was then penalised for playing the ball on the floor which gifted a relatively straightforward kick for Ed Styles. That was the last time the Billesley Boys got anywhere near the opposition line for the remainder of the period. Bristol dominated and will wonder how they went in at the break leading 8-3 and not 18-3. One reason was Adrian Jarvis' errant boot. The former Harlequins fly half missed three of his four attempts, including his first two which struck the post. That started in the eighth minute after Mose were spotted offside and then a minute later following George Watkins' try. |
