Summary: | Following [Pat O'Brien]'s announcement, several of those MPs met with Prime Minister Paul Martin and Justice Minister Irwin Cotler to discuss Bill C-38. Andy Savoy, the chair of the Liberals' caucus, is confidently predicting that the same-sex legislation will pass and that none of his fellow MPs will vote to bring down their government. It was Savoy who set up the meeting. Savoy himself is strongly opposed to the same-sex marriage bill. But he said he wanted to make sure that MPs were able to air with Martin any concerns they had with the progress of the legislation through Parliament. |
