Summary: | SINGAPORE - Trade officials from around the world spent another night burning the midnight oil last night as they wrestled with the right words to reach agreement on a declaration on a trade agenda for the 21st century. The trade ministers and officials representing the 127 countries in the World Trade Organization are expected to complete negotiations today on an agenda that will meet all their conflicting concerns. And at a gala dinner for the trade ministers at the Shangri-La Hotel here last night, Yeo Cheow Tong, Singapore's minister of industry and trade and chair of the trade summit, said the meetings had made ``significant progress in narrowing our differences on the outstanding issues.'' And ``there is still some way to go before we can relax.'' |
