Summary: | Responding to market research and the instincts of its editors, Harlequin is planning a new line of romances called Love And Laughter. Malle Vallik, editor of the new line, already has acquired 12 novels in readiness for the fall 1996 launch and is actively soliciting others for the twice-monthly publishing schedule. Harlequin's other romance lines include Harlequin Romance, Harlequin Presents, Intrigue, American, Temptation and Super Romance - targeting readers according to whether they like their love stories traditional, mysterious, sexy or long. Harlequin publishes more than 960 novels a year by about 1,000 active authors. Says Vallik, who also edits Harlequin's sexier Temptation line: ``Many of the lines carry comedies now, but they aren't separated out. In Temptation, about 40 to 50 per cent of the novels use humor. |
