Malle Vallik, editor of the new line, already has acquired 12 novels in readiness for the fall 1996 launch and is actively soliciting others for the twice-monthly publishing schedule. Harlequin's other romance lines include Harlequin Romance, Harlequin Presents, Intrigue, American, Temptation and Super Romance - targeting readers according to whether they like their love stories traditional, mysterious, sexy or long. Harlequin publishes more than 960 novels a year by about 1,000 active authors. Says Vallik, who also edits Harlequin's sexier Temptation line: ``Many of the lines carry comedies now, but they aren't separated out. In Temptation, about 40 to 50 per cent of the novels use humor. |
