Summary: | The province still hasn't decided what - if anything - to do about a report drawn up after police accidentally shot Windsor autoworker Bernard Bastien dead nearly four years ago. Bastien, 34, was mistakenly shot and killed by members of an Ontario Provincial Police tactical team during a pre-dawn confrontation outside his Anderdon Township home on Aug. 14, 1988. The London-based OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit thought the Windsor auto worker was an armed and suicidal teenager they had been searching for through the night. Bastien went out with a shotgun after his mother called him to complain of prowlers between their two houses. He was hit by 13 bullets after he refused to drop his gun and fired at a police officer. |
