Summary:The TTC found women on the 34 TTC routes in Scarborough were using the request stops an average of 60 times a night. The program was one of 39 recommendations for making night stops safer in a joint study by the TTC, Scarborough and the Scarborough Women's Centre. Since May, 1987, six of eight assaults attributed to the Scarborough rapist occurred as women were making long walks home after getting off TTC buses. Police are still hunting the rapist.
