John Laliberte scored both goals for B.U., and goalie Stephan Siwiec made 36 saves. Northeastern (11-13-4) will play B.U. (16-10-2) in the championship on Monday. Boston College (17-4-5), the defending Beanpot champion, will play Harvard (14-6-2) in the consolation round preceding the title game. Beanpot bragging rights are unevenly distributed. B.U. leads the way with 25 titles. B.C. has won the Beanpot 13 times. Harvard has won 10 times, its most recent in 1993. Northeastern has won just four Beanpot championships, all in an eight-year span: in 1980, '84, '85 and '88. |
