Summary:Mr. [Robert E. Cawthorn], who was born in Britain, first joined Rorer in 1982 as president of Rorer International. Rorer began as a small family pharmaceutical firm in Fort Washington, Pa., and its major product was Maalox, an antacid. Maalox is still a major Rorer product and the company is still based in Fort Washington. But most everything else has changed. He has already doubled the company's size by acquiring Revlon's precription drug unit for $690 million, and he has restructured operations, trimmed the number of employees and recruited new executives. One member of the [Rorer] family, William H. Rorer 3d, resigned as a senior vice president in March to become president of Delaware Valley College.
