By the way, I later found out that the first couple had gone to a marriage counselor for help. They abruptly canceled their initial meeting with him, however, when a voice from another room in the counselor's house yelled out, ''Dear,'' and he apologetically said to my friends, ''You'll have to excuse me, that's my wife's voice, and she wants me to get her some aspirin, or bring her a glass of milk, or take a frog out of our pool, or something.''
