Summary:THERE'S ONLY ONE TIME EACH YEAR that I consider myself one of the masses, and that's on the 3rd of July. That's the day when the majority of Chicagoans avoid the city's annual Independence Day fireworks display. When the Chicago Park District releases their attendance figure of 1.1 million, we're among the ones who stayed home. A sort of silent majority, there are millions of us who would no sooner go to Grant Park that night than go to Costco on Christmas Eve.
