Physicians in high-risk specialties, such as neurosurgery, are declining to perform some procedures in a move to reduce their liability exposure. A gifted young surgeon at Hinsdale Hospital, barely into his 40s, left practice this summer, denying countless future patients both his expertise and compassion, and creating a void in our family practice resident physician training program.
