Summary: | Hands down the clubbiest spot in the neighborhood, Lava Lounge still manages to keep things relatively casual. The dimly lit main room has a bar, DJ booth and high ceilings; the cozier back areas have couches perfect for nuzzling or just kicking back. DJs keep Lava's flow going nightly, particularly on Wednesdays, when the bar features only female turntablists, and on Thursdays when it hosts the city's longest-running hip-hop night. The bartenders and wait staff are at the top of their game, so you'll never have to worry about waiting for a drink. There's no food, but the Tamale Man comes by often enough to be considered a fixture. 859 N. Damen Ave. 773- 772-3355. |
