Summary:Just when the business is starting to gain momentum, Gilda vanishes, taking all their assets and leaving Hosanna with nothing but shards of regret for the loss of her dreams and the constant question that trails her: Why would Gilda betray her? Broken but not defeated, Hosanna takes the knowledge she has acquired and adds her own fierce determination, while swallowing back the bitter aftertaste of betrayal. She finds sustenance in the arms and the deep pockets of one of L.A.'s most prominent black business owners, who helps her launch her own cosmetics line, which she sells door to door, beauty salon to beauty salon, and state to state, ultimately sacrificing her health and family while never quite reaching the success she had envisioned.
