Summary:Ben Hogan, Arnold Palmer, Tom Watson; each a legend, each a dominant golfer in his era. Together, they won 24 major golf titles, including six U.S. Open championships--Hogan four, Palmer and Watson one each. Hogan, so near in 1955 to what would have been his record fifth Open title, lost in an 18-hole playoff to Jack Fleck, an obscure touring pro. Fleck, Casper and [Scott] Simpson left with the Open trophy, but the conversations at Olympic usually are about how Hogan, Palmer and Watson did not win.
