Summary:Getting an early start for his White House bid, former New Jersey Sen. Bill Bradley campaigned among residents of this early-primary state Monday, offering himself as a candidate who can appeal to a broad spectrum of voters. "I'd be better able to attract independents and Republicans," said the soft-spoken Bradley, 55, who left the Senate in 1997. Bradley, a Princeton graduate and a Rhodes scholar, is the first Democrat to openly bid for the nation's highest office in 2000. Although only 1.2 million people live in New Hampshire, a victory next February could give Bradley's campaign the momentum he needs to be a serious contender.
