Summary:It is too bad we did not see the (R) following Sen. [Zell Miller]'s name on the November ballot. Women, minorities and other groups who have supported Miller throughout his long political career are saddened by the fact that he broke ranks with Democrats and voted for John Ashcroft for attorney general. Watching Zell Miller on TV, standing beside Phil Gramm (R-Texas) and promising to support the Republican tax cut, I couldn't help noticing how grim Gramm looked, and how uncomfortable Miller seemed. While Sen. Max Cleland (D-Ga.) and Reps. John Lewis (D-Ga.) and Cynthia McKinney (D-Ga.) vote against everything President [George W. Bush] wants, Miller is not only showing courage, but also a lot of common sense in supporting some of the Republican proposals.
