Summary:PHOTO; JODIE FOSTER Walters loses out on art collection The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in Richmond plans to acquire, by combined gift/purchase, 54 works of Himalayan (Tibetan and Nepalese) art from the holdings of Baltimore collectors John and Berthe Ford. The Fords will donate 28 works worth an undisclosed sum to the museum, which will purchase the rest for $1.59 million paid over a period of five years. Mr. Ford, a member of the board of trustees of the Walters Art Gallery, said the couple had made the Walters an "even more generous" offer that the Walters was "unable to accept" due to financial limitations.
