Summary: | Joe Zina, 50, was recently appointed executive director of the Coolidge Corner Theatre in Brookline. The movie theater, known to many simply as "the Coolidge," is a nonprofit business that shows a range of movies from popular and mainstream to low-budget films by local filmmakers. The theater recently received $25,000 from the Bay State Federal Savings Charitable Foundation. Zina, who has been a board member of the theater for two years, replaces Sue Stein. Globe correspondent Christian Meagher talked recently with Zina at the theater. A. I'd always been a Coolidge patron and totally in love with the history of the theater. The thing that interested me and propelled me to become a board member was that these kinds of theaters need to be preserved in a community, and that is one of the missions of the board of directors. So, my interest in that brought me to the board to work with the board to fix it up, to develop it and to get involved with the programming to make sure we were maintaining and developing audiences. |
