Summary: | Manufacturers refer to quartz surfaces as engineered stone, but they also have given names to their product lines. DuPont's is called Zodiaq, Consentino makes Silestone, and Caesarstone is an import from Israel. All of them use a mixture of 92 percent to 93 percent crushed quartz combined with resins. How the quartz is proc essed is a factor in the final appearance of the product. In some cases, quartz crys tals are ground as fine as powder, and the result is a uniform texture and color. In other cases, finely ground crys tals are mixed with larger pieces to add textural interest and give the countertop a more mottled appearance. |
