Summary: | Coleman and [Arlen Dean Hill II], both natives of Pinckneyville, Ill., were married in 1993. Within a few months after Taylor's birth in May 2001, Coleman filed an adult abuse complaint against her husband. By late 2001 the two had separated. On June 8, 2002, Hill picked up Taylor for what was supposed to be a two-week visit. That was the last time Coleman saw Taylor until they were reunited in New Zealand last month. Within hours, they were playing hide-and-seek in their hotel room, eating McDonald's hamburgers and dancing to musical toothpaste Coleman had bought for Taylor. That night, Coleman hugged her daughter for the first time in three years. And Taylor referred to the woman she so resembles as her mother. For Coleman, however, missing pieces are another story. People who met Hill after Taylor was reported missing in 2002 have offered to fill in some of the blanks on her life, even to send photos of Taylor in the Halloween costume she wore last year. Coleman wants none of that. |
