Summary: | "As Mr. [Joseph Nacchio] has stated consistently in the past, he did nothing wrong during his tenure at Qwest," said Marcia Horowitz, a spokeswoman for Mr. Nacchio. "Nothing that happened today involving another former Qwest executive changes that fact." Already, Ms. [Robin Szeliga] and four other former Qwest executives, including Mr. Nacchio, face civil fraud charges from the Securities and Exchange Commission. Those charges allege that from 1999 through 2002 the executives engaged in "massive financial fraud" to hide the deteriorating finances of the company. Earlier this week, Ms. Szeliga and Mr. Nacchio asked a U.S. district court judge in Denver to dismiss those civil charges. In a brief, Mr. Nacchio's attorneys described the civil charges as unfounded and overly vague. |
