Summary:As convenient and pretty as paper gift wrap is, it invariably ends up being tossed away. The gift slipcases described here, both beautiful and recyclable, are made of organdy fabric and decorated with the names of the recipients. These bags (shown on Page G1) are great showcases for gifts such as a set of lace-edged napkins, or a half-dozen dessert forks made from coin silver, or a small book of poetry. The idea is to provide both the gift wrap, as well as a convenient storage pouch. One word about adapting the size of the bag to the size of your gift: Technically, you can make the bags in any size, but first you will want to consider the weight of the gift. If the gift is heavy, like an atlas-sized book, it may cause unattractive strains on the seams and pull the bag out of shape. Lightweight gifts are most suitable.
