Summary:Meanwhile, from the altar at Holy Infancy Church in south Bethlehem, Carlos Fernandez cried out in pain as parishioners portraying Roman soldiers nailed him to a cross. A trickle of crimson crossed his abdomen and a crown of thorns was placed on his matted hair. In Allentown, several hundred people gathered at Sixth and Turner streets to watch Pontius Pilate order Jesus' execution, setting off the six-block trek to Sacred Heart church. Roman soldiers in helmets and wielding spears cracked whips to keep the beaten and exhausted Jesus moving. The 14 stations of the cross include Jesus falling to his knees and praying to God for strength and meeting a group of crying women, who he tells to care for others.
