Summary:[Leslie Allen Williams], a 39-year-old habitual offender from Detroit, was released from prison in August 1990. Since his first arrest in 1970 for breaking into a home, Williams has been in and out of prison, with four subsequent convictions on charges ranging from breaking and entering to first-degree criminal sexual assault. He has spent about 15 years in prison since 1971. Confronted with the discovery of the body, that of 18-year-old Kami Marie Villaneuva, Williams "indicated he had a desire to talk about some other things he wanted to clear up," sheriff's Sgt. Doug Hummel said. Williams, also a suspect in the abduction and rape last year of a 9-year-old girl, wasn't formally charged in the slayings. He was charged with attempted murder, attempted rape and kidnapping in Sunday's abduction, and was jailed in lieu of $1 million bond.
