Summary: | Sandy Strickland and Ralph Juenning of Denver are two of those lighthouse buffs. Last month they were on a six-week tour of Great Lakes lighthouses as they climbed the 69-step tower at the Fairport Harbor Lighthouse and Museum. Several of the lighthouses can be walked around, although they are not open. One such lighthouse is the Fairport Harbor West Breakwater Lighthouse. If you don't mind traversing the mile-long, rocky breakwater, you can walk out there. In fact, it has become a popular spot for young people to go to jump off the cliff that surrounds the lighthouse into the 40-foot-deep water. * Cleveland East Harbor Entrance Lighthouse, Cleveland East Pierhead Lighthouse and Cleveland West Breakwater Lighthouse: www.lighthousefriends.com.
