Summary:Frank Zupancic, owner of Curry Beer Distributors on Brownsville Road, also spoke against the rezoning. [George Smith] said the rezoning plan was created to spur growth in the two business strips. He noted that large portions of the township are owned by government entities that pay no municipal taxes but still require services. He cited the township's largest employer, the U.S. Bureau of Mines and Department of Energy, the Bethel Park Sewer Authority and Allegheny County's South Park. Supervisors are to discuss the rezoning plan at a closed meeting Feb. 8 with members of the planning commission and zoning board. Business owners and residents will have another chance to speak at one or more public hearings in February. Smith said he hoped to have a new draft and rezoning map available for public viewing by Feb. 22.
