Summary: | The procedure is called supracervical laparoscopic hysterectomy and as one of the few doctors in southeastern Michigan performing this surgery, I can say it is a huge breakthrough for many of the thousands of women facing a hysterectomy. Since this new surgery leaves the cervix intact, it is only offered to women who have no history of cervical cancer or cervical dysplasia. While supracervical laparoscopic hysterectomy is the newest advance in gynecologic surgery, several Hutzel physicians are experts in the use of laparoscopy to treat endometriosis, pelvic adhesions, ectopic pregnancies, ovarian cysts, tubal ligation sterilization and diagnostic procedures. |
