Summary: | Poor Barbie - the darling of little girls and the symbol of the bimbo "other woman" for their moms - now can rest those long sexy legs in high style. Winners of the "Design the Perfect Chair for Barbie Competition" were selected recently from 415 entries in 15 countries. Entrants ranged from well-known international designers who used computers to a 4-year-old girl from Michigan who sketched in yellow crayon. "We wanted the chair to be something that Barbie would want to have in the 1990s," says Lorry Parks Dudley, head of the U.S. office for Germany's Vitra Design Museum. "When we were judging, we found a lot of designs looked like they were for the 1950s Barbie. Unlike in the '50s, she has some exciting career choices."Vitra co-sponsored the contest with Metropolis and Barbie Bazaar magazines. |
