Summary:The plot of the film portrays two young couples set out on a cross-country trip around Halloween. The foursome ends up in rural Texas where they hear the tale of a mysterious figure known as "Dr. Satan." They find themselves completely lost in the middle of nowhere after their car breaks during a storm and seek refuge at a strange house that leaves the viewer with an impressionable sense of apprehension. They psychotic family with whom they are stranded is not the fun-loving country folks we would hope for. The family enjoys dabbling with cannibalism, satanic rituals and nauseating forms of torture. Unfortunately for the couples, the family is also avid celebrators of Halloween and performs disturbing rituals to celebrate the holiday that inevitably involved the couples in a disturbing and grotesque way. Zombie's ability to transform horror sporadically throughout the movie proved his undeniable ability to direct award-worthy films. The diversity was fantastic and spellbinding. Being able to scare viewers almost to the point of an anxiety attack and then introducing an extremely humorous moment is obviously a gift that Zombie proves to have.
