Summary: | I've seen "Roman Holiday" at least half a dozen times, but I will always stop to watch it again. [Audrey Hepburn] and [Gregory Peck] are at the height of their considerable star power in this movie. What could be better than turning on the TV out of the blue and seeing "Sunset Boulevard," "All About Eve," "Rear Window" or "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington?" Nobody swears. Clothes remain firmly in place. Morals are clear, though complicated sometimes. Chemistry is important because it's all about the chase. It might be a pure chase, like "Roman Holiday," or a dangerous one, like Barbara Stanwyck's devious turn in "Double Indemnity," but it always leaves much to our own imaginations. |
