Summary: | A suit over a parcel that North Charleston wanted to use to annex Watson Hill was dismissed Friday, but North Charleston's attorney said that won't affect the outcome of North Charleston and Summerville's annexation lawsuit over the same tract. Dismissing the [Mickey Barry] suit won't affect the annexation lawsuit one way or another, North Charleston Deputy Attorney Derk Van Raalte said. Dismissing the Barry lawsuit means that four local conservation groups who pledged $250,000 each to cover any damages the Barrys might incur are off the hook. The Coastal Conservation League, Drayton Hall, the Middleton Place Foundation and the Historic Charleston Foundation pledged a total of $1 million. |
