Summary: | Melbourne does many things very well: food, bars, fashion and arts festivals among them. It is not, however, a city that summers well. To be fair, not all of this is our fault. The weather is transient, churlish and does little to encourage its citizens to have faith in the willingness of any one season to stick around. Except for winter. Melburnians embrace winter with such resigned gusto that when daylight saving finally begins, it seems to take a few weeks for everyone to realise that they can raise their heads now, smile, remove their clenched fists from their pockets and walk the streets at a leisurely pace. |
