Summary: | My surprise at the sort of crowd assembled at my first roller derby experience was both largely a response to - and then uncannily reflected by - the perfect 'o'-shaped mouth of the blow-up sex doll that was propped next to a bin, with an inflatable bumblebee balanced precariously on top of her shocked little face. She was the property, I quickly gathered, of the group of hairy, middle-aged men who were standing, drinking beer and cheering like any other group of guys at a sporting event - except that they too were dressed as female bumblebees. They do things a little differently at Puckhandlers Roller Sports Stadium. |
