Summary:"It was a good, solid club when I arrived," he said of the then 85-member club. The Trojans had a few national-level swimmers at the time, says [Dean Henze] but there was the perception within the club that they were not producing the good younger swimmers that are needed to maintain a club's long-term success. "We've tried to make sure we're teaching the right stuff at the earliest opportunity," said Henze. That includes basic swimming skills, like streamlining off the walls, breath control, and specific breathing skills for each stroke. "We've gone out of our way to convince kids they can be good swimmers. Slowly, but surely, they're buying into that." : Barrie Trojans swimmer Jordan Gardiner has a rest after finishing a race at the Huronia Regional Championships. - Ron Howden photo; : Rachel Grainer of the Trojan Swim Club broke two club records in the 100 and 200-metre butterfly in the 11-12 girls age group, at the recent Huronia Regional Championships. - Ron Howden photo
