Summary: | Yes, Trustee Marrelli broke down in tears at the beginning of the meeting. But for many parents her statement about how "excited" she was to see democracy in action, when discussing west bowl closures, was more than a little unsettling. Pardon me, if I don't find any aspect of school closures "exciting." Personally I don't understand the closures. Initially, SD 57 was going to save $1.6 million (Wednesday's story) from the closures. Now that number is down to $1.4 million. Despite declining enrolments in public schools, every private school in Prince George except one had increased enrolments this year. Some private schools have seen increased enrolments in 2002- 03 after years of declining enrolments. |
