Summary:In 1996, the LDB adopted a scheme called "Beer Category Management." LDB insiders blessed it with a slogan: "Money for Nothing." This means the LDB gets more money from beer consumers and taxpayers for nothing. The LDB projected that this would result in significant increases in beer sales revenues. The LDB also places a minimum price on beer. And, to protect its taxes, it also places a minimum markup. If I choose to sell my beer at the lowest price, the government will still get the same markup as a higher priced beer.
