She stayed home, sat on the sofa next to him in his recliner chair. Her only exercise was fetching him meals and medicines. Her only excursions were escorting him to doctors and therapy. The traditional dangers of old age -- osteoporosis, arthritis and loss of strength, balance, agility and aerobic capacity -- are all eased with regular exercise, according to studies done at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. And Canadian researchers found evidence that regular exercise eases mild-to-moderate depression and anxiety. |
