Summary: | DEAR CAROLINA RETIREE AND ALL READERS: Spouses and cohabitants are not the only people who should take such precautions. Single people -- whether widowed, divorced or otherwise solo -- need similar arrangements plus a friend or family member who can act in their stead. Like never before in life, retired and elderly people need a desk or file cabinet or cupboard with all the above materials collected and organized. At least in this manner, a spouse or family member or friend can more quickly resolve the pressing issues that come at the bottom of a flight of stairs.
