Summary: | In seeking the subpoena, ASIC counsel Tony Bannon SC said the commission was trying to find what had happened to the proceeds of the sale of Mr [Rodney Adler]'s shares in the FAI insurance company. Mr Adler sold half the family shareholding in FAI to HIH Insurance for $34million and accepted cash and HIH shares for the remaining half in 1998. Mr Adler is listed as one of two shareholders in Adler Corp, with his wife Lynda. Mr Jackman told the court Mr Adler's shares are held in a trust. If ASIC succeeds in its application, the freeze order could extend to Mrs Adler as an associate of Mr Adler through the company. |
