Summary: | The fall in FM listeners, down by an average of 191,000 in Sydney on the first Nielsen Media Research ratings survey earlier this year, is puzzling in the absence of a giant news story that would draw large numbers to talkback stations, although no one is panicking yet. Every FM music station, except Vega, was down. ABC 702's overall share rose in this survey and it has the third highest audience reach (638,000 listeners) compared with 2Day FM (915,000) in top spot, Nova 96.9 (786,000) and 2GB(619,000). VIRTUALLY no movement in the Brisbane market in the most recent ratings period spells disaster for former market leader B105, which is languishing behind an oldies radio station and keeping company with AM radio stations. B105 is one of two Austereo stations in the Brisbane market -- the other being market leader Triple M -- and it dropped even further in the most recent ratings period to command only 8.1 per cent of the listening audience. |
