Summary: | Captain [Fred Cannar], who is with the Third Infantry Division guarding Iraq's inner western suburbs, said his division's last eight battles had been against the foreigners. Capt Cannar said nearly every major fight against enemy forces had involved militia from Jordan, Syria and Saudi Arabia. The suicide attacks have left US soldiers tense and on edge and likely to gun down civilians approaching the troops seeking aid or food. A large number of civilians are believed to have died in the past few days in incidents where jumpy young soldiers shot private vehicles fearing they may have been part of a suicide attack. |
