Summary: | The Lions Club of Kingston recently donated $1,000 to our Christmas hamper campaign. I phoned up club treasurer Thomas Wright to thank them. He told me that the club's 65 members raised the money through bingo games at the Olde Circle Bingo Hall. They have been active in local events and have been donating to charities for years. For example, so far this year, they have given $1,000 to the local food bank; $500 each to the Clothes for Kids and the toy drive and $1,000 to the blind curlers. The club supports the CNIB, minor sports such as hockey and baseball. Students in the journalism class at Loyalist Collegiate and Vocational Institute are collecting money to donate a Christmas basket to a family. The students are Guy Brushey, Jeremy Boersma, Blair Watt, Paul McBride, Andrea Kleffman, Kristy Griffin, Eric Norton, Stephen Petrick, James Kahnt and Jeff Carlson-Graves. Their teacher is Jane Derby. Staff at the Microbiology Laboratory at Hotel Dieu Hospital donated $170 to our cause. They are: Debbie Moulton, Donna Hegarty, Nancy Grant, Karen Dillon, Margarite Spence, Bob Kendrick, Shari Batson, Ursula Moser, Janice Robinson-Perrin, Marg Van Hooser, Dr. Gloria Delisle, Dr. Lewis Tomalty and Jackie McKay.
