Summary:If there is anything that life has taught me, though, it is that change for the good does not happen by chance. It takes thought, effort and purpose. I have not taken my state of marital bliss for granted because I know too many who have not been so blessed in this area. I routinely examine [Brian Farmer]'s and my relationship to see if somehow we could make it a little better. Upon my last examination I realized that Brian and I, through work, other commitments, and the demands of raising our family, had somehow lost that sense of fun and adventure of just being alone as a couple. It wasn't that we were at odds with each other or anything like that. We had just allowed the responsibilities of life to rob us of time spent together for the sheer pleasure of each other's company. If you look at the Old Testament (the first part of the Bible), it tends to be very concrete in its stories (sort of like the way a picture book is for young children). When you look at the New Testament (the second part of the Bible), the Old Testament is greatly used to explain the New Testament's seemingly abstract, spiritual ideas. I believe this was done so that we could grasp what God desires from His people. His greatest wish is that we would have a relationship with Him and spend quality time with Him, not just a kiss-kiss as you're running out the door.
