Summary:In October 2004, Oursien, then 18, acquired 30 prescription time- released morphine pills, commonly known as OxyContin, and gave some to Tessier and Drouin at separate times. "There's no suggestion Mr. Oursien was a violent person," defence counsel Ken Alexander, who represented Oursien on the drug trafficking charges, told The Daily Press yesterday. Oursien was originally charged with two counts of manslaughter. Those charges were withdrawn after the pleas of guilt for the drug trafficking and after the deaths of the boys were factored into the sentencing. First-time drug offenders rarely get jail time.
