Summary: | You may be able to catch a glimpse of Mercury early in July. Mercury is an elusive planet, never straying far from the bright Sun, whose glare hides it most of the time. Mars rises several hours before the Sun and by dawn it can be found well up in the East as a red-tinged, medium-bright starlight object. The Moon forms a triangle with Mars and the Pleiades star cluster (also called the Seven Sisters) after midnight on July 24 and again on the 25th. A view of Saturn through a moderate-sized telescope reveals its beautiful rings. The Moon is to the left of Saturn as they rise on July 16. |
