| Summary: | Launched at a press conference hosted by Huw Lewis AM and Hywel Francis MP, "Valleys First" will campaign for increased resources for communities in the former South Wales coalfield, which includes the area I represent. In addition to producing a Valleys' Charter, which inform the campaign for the elections in 2003, we will also look at establishing a better way of working between ordinary AMs and the UK Parliament, and complementing working arrangements at ministerial level. There must be a balance, where all opinions are expressed, where everyone has a fair hearing and where we can decide in a measured and sensible manner where money needs to be targeted. The Assembly and the UK Government have made huge inroads already, through initiatives such as Objective One and "Communities First". |
