Summary:The inspectors found Daniel James' pupils were performing "significantly less well" in English, maths and science compared to pupils in similar schools. Girls were also said to be outperforming boys more than in similar schools. The Estyn report said: "The school has several good features including the standards achieved by pupils in a minority of subjects and the support they receive in a safe and caring environment." However, it added: "Lessons that had good or outstanding features were significantly below the Welsh average." Swansea Council leader Chris Holley said yesterday: "We want every pupil at Daniel James to be able to reach their potential and it is vital that everything is done to ensure the pupils and staff have the support they need to achieve this."
